Battle of beeri-معركة بئيري

The attack on Be'eri began shortly after 6:30 a.m. on October 7 and was largely over by the evening of October 8, although some operatives remained in the area and were killed or captured by Israeli forces until October 9. Amid a barrage of rockets fired at Israel, the first Hamas operatives breached the border fence at 6:30 a.m. (1 on map). They attacked two tanks positioned at the so-called "Baga" military base (2), located on the border directly opposite the kibbutz. The attackers used RPGs and explosive-laden drones. "One of the tanks was damaged by Hamas fire, and its crew members were killed and their bodies seized. The second tank advanced northward and engaged a number of terrorists, but it too was hit, and its crew members were killed, except for the driver." The surviving Israeli forces at the Baga base continued to fight the invading elements, and were unable to protect Be'eri, while other forces stationed in the area went to fight the attackers at Nahal Oz, leaving the kibbutz undefended.
