في تمام الساعة الثالثة بعد الظهر، وصل أفراد وحدة الهندسة القتالية النخبة "ياهالوم" إلى القاعدة وبدأوا بتفتيشها. لم يعثر الجنود على أي مهاجم حيّ خلال عمليات التفتيش، وعثروا على الجنود المختبئين في الملجأ. وبحلول الساعة السابعة مساءً، نقل جنود "ياهالوم" جميع جنود مكتب الاتصال في غزة إلى مفترق طرق "يد مردخاي"، ونُقل الجرحى إلى المستشفيات. وبحلول الساعة الحادية عشرة مساءً، أُعيدت قيادة القاعدة إلى الوحدة الإقليمية. ____ At 3 p.m., members of the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit reached the base and began to search it. The troops did not encounter any living attacker during their searches, and they found the soldiers who were hiding in the bomb shelter.
